Today has been a beautiful spring day (YEA!), so mom and I decided to take both kids out to get some fresh air.  We went to an awesome park with some friends on Friday, and since Macy didn’t get to swing the last time we went (which I felt guilty for all weekend) off to the park went.  My first learning experience was that I have to kiss the steering wheel  to have Steven’s car seat on the driver’s side…that’s disappointing because I really want Macy on the passenger’s side so I can keep an eye on her and be able to pass things to her, so it looks like the Saturn will be the kidmobile from now on.

Macy and Steven are very excited about the park.

After a weekend of making mom feel guilty about not getting to swing on Friday, Macy gets swinging.

She even was brave enough for the slide (usually she’s not a huge slide fan).

Steven had a great time.

Macy’s favorite part of the park was the tunnels.

A game of peekaboo never gets old!

A sleeping toddler = a successful trip. ;)

This is what happens when your premie hats are too small and your newborn hats are too big and your mom isn’t paying attention. Sorry little guy. This will fit soon. :)

I borrowed a baby papazan chair from my cousin Jamie when Macy was born…little did I know she would live in it for the first 2 months of her life! My friend Rebekah has the same chair for her 2 kiddos and was kind enough to let Steven borrow it (one less piece of Jamie’s equipment that has to come from MS…I think we have everything else she owns ;) . Thankfully Steven loves the chair as much as Macy did. He gets a sleepy look as soon as his head touches the pillow. Thanks again Rebekah!! :)

I might not have many flowers outside, but Macy’s making up for that inside. :)

Macy spent A LOT of time on the boppy in her first year of life…not just nursing, but also napping and just hanging out and looking around. Steven is starting to get some boppy time in now. He’s taken one nap on the boppy while his bassinet sheet was washing and here he is awake while after a middle of the night bottle (he hasn’t realized yet that you’re supposed to ALWAYS fall back asleep quickly in the middle of the night). This boppy is priceless!

“Aunt” Donna knows the secret to a young girl’s heart…pretty bows, cute cups, and green crinkled paper! These pictures don’t need much explaination. Thanks again Aunt Donna! :)

I’ve always loved our pediatrician, but now I love her even more….she took Steven’s medical records home last night to read before his appointment today! This might be something every pediatrician does, but I love ours for it…especially since he has 5 weeks worth of medical history. It was awesome for her to know EVERYTHING about him as soon as we walked in the door…and to have a plan ready! Love her!

Steven weighed 6lbs 1oz today (well technically that would be yesterday). One answer to prayer is that his bilirubin went from 11.2 in the hospital on Wednesday to 9.7 at the doctor’s office on Thursday! It hasn’t been that low in a long time! We’re going back on the 16th to check his weight and bili again. Hopefully his weight will go up and bili will go down. :)

Steven has been staying awake for about 10 mins after his feedings tonight so he’s been hanging out on the nippy while mom pumps. I think the rhythmic sound of the pump puts him to sleep, but it’s nice to see his eyes for a few minutes. :)

Steven has officially been home for 10 hours and I think he’s decided to stay. ;) It was almost bittersweet to leave the NICU. After sharing so many intense emotions with people and forming relationships over the past 5 weeks it was a little sad to say goodbye. There are some incredible ladies there that we loved very much!

It was really exciting to have our son feel like he is our own now. Macy reacted well to him. She was very curious, but couldn’t get too close since she’s still coughing with a runny nose. She did give his feet some sweet big sister kisses though. :)

So far Steven has continued to be a good sleeper. He’s been snuggled in his bassinet and happily sleeping since we got home (with short meal breaks). He and I just took a nap with all of the lights off and I realized that it was the first time he had been in the dark since he was in the womb 5 weeks ago! This is also the first time he’s been in silence…I’m glad he’s tollerating dark silence well, because we’re quite a fan of it around here! ;)

Steven is scheduled to come home tomorrow after his 2pm feeding! I can hardly believe that he’s really going to be home with us. It’s exciting to think about not having to drive to the hospital to see him, but I’m a little nervous about bringing him into our germ infested house. So with this happy news come new prayer requests. Please pray that Steven will be protected from all of the new germs he will be coming home to and please pray that Macy will love her little brother and that this transition will be as easy as possible for her.

Thank you again for your continuous prayer and support as we’ve gone through this journey. We are thrilled to be starting this new chapter!
