So apparantly watching so much “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ while I was pregnant made my body think we were having multiple babies because I’ve been making enough milk for at least 2, possibly 3 kiddos. We’ve gotten to the point where our poor little freezer is busting at the seams with milk (yes, all of that is milk) and there’s absolutely no where to put food except for the poor little bottom shelf on the door. We’ve made the decision to invest in a little freezer for the garage. I’m sure what we have in the freezer now will fill it up fast, but at least that will give us another place to put it for a while so we might be able to have a frozen waffle from time to time. :) Also, the milk in the deep freeze will last 6 months while the milk in a refridgerator freezer will only last 3 or 4 (and we’re getting close to the “expiration date” for some of our supply). I feel very blessed to have this abundance of wonderful milk for Macy and I’d hate to have to throw any away when there are some babies out there that desperately need breastmilk. (we’ve already had to toss a huge ammount when we got thrush over the summer). If anyone knows of a legitimate milk donation organization, please let me know. I’ve done some research online, but it’s hard to know who to trust
.
I’m definitely a girl who loves her sleep and while 5:30am isn’t exactly my ideal time to start my day, I love the quiet moments I get to have with Macy. Every morning after she eats she falls asleep on the couch until I take her back to her crib. It’s so precious just to watch her sleep. I had to put the picture of Harley up too. It amazes me that our deer-like dog can gracefully get into a bag chair and curl his long legs up to fit.
Yes, it’s been a while since the last post…and no, there aren’t any new pictures up yet, but the good news is that life as we know it is almost starting to feel normal. I just finished my second week at school with kids (mom was here for the first week, so that one almost doesn’t even count) and it seems like out schedule is starting to calm down a little. Doug still has a to do list a mile long for the new and the old house and I have a good bit of school work to do over the long weekend (and washing clothes might help us all), but I think we’re settling in. I’m going to go to the grocery store tomorrow for my first “big trip” since we’ve been moved in and I’m hoping that I can cook some meals on Monday to last us through the week.
Macy is doing great. We had a little lactose intollerance issue, but I’ve cut out dairy for a while and she seems to be doing better (not to mention that I’m a dairy-a-holic, so I’m hoping to lose some more baby weight with this change). She went to the doctor last week and is a healthy 12lbs. now. Yesterday was her 3 month birthday, so we’ll go back next month for another check-up and round of shots. She’s having a great time at her Omie’s house and loves “talking” to Zoe when she goes to Katie’s house on Fridays (Katie’s taken some cute pictures that I’ll post when I find my camera cord…it’s still in a box somewhere I think). She’s doing great with holding her head up and is at a full 90 degrees when she’s on her tummy. She doesn’t seem too interested in rolling over yet, so we might have a while before we get there.
That’s about all going on with us…Macy, work, and getting the new house settled. I’ll get more pictures up soon! ![]()
Yep, it’s been a while again, but I have a very legitimate excuse. Doug, Macy and I are now (almost) settled in our new house! We LOVE it here! I’ll post new pictures soon.
Today has been a crazy day. We have managed to lose and (thankfully) find our dogs in the last 24 hours. Harley and Montana have been staying at our old house this week because we’re waiting on the fence guy to build our fence at the new house. Doug went over last night to feed them and noticed the gate was wide open and the dogs were nowhere to be found. Usually if there’s a loose dog in the neighborhood all the other dogs let you know, but last night it was silent so Doug figured they had been out for a while. Doug drove around and put them on craigslist (leave it to a web developer to think of craigslist…I thought posterboard). I was asleep last night when he got home so I found out about it this morning at 5:30. I figured out a simple plan…I would go over to the house before work and if they weren’t back at the house already I’d just drive around and find them (can you tell I’ve never lost a pet before?) They weren’t at the house and the food Doug had left out was untouched. I drove around for 45 minutes and didn’t see any trace of them…that’s when the reality started to hit me. Doug said that he would check with the shelters and see if anyone had picked them up, but when I talked to him at 11 no one had seen them. We were both crushed because we had really hoped that someone had seen them and called animal control and they would be waiting for us there…or someone would call Doug’s cell phone (the number on their tags) first thing in the morning saying that they had them, but neither happened.
When I left work at 3:00 Doug told me that he had good news and no news. Animal control had picked up Montana on Kinnerly Rd (about a mile-ish from our house), but Harley wasn’t with him. Doug and I were really hoping they had stuck together. Montana is a pretty “street smart” dog, Harley on the other hand has no clue at all about the “outside world”. We like to compare Harley to the giraffe on “Madagascar” because he’s a bit high maintenance and timid. I was worried about Harley being out there without Montana to give him a little common sense, but I had renewed hope since Montana was still okay. My plan of action was to run by the old house and get the vet’s number incase someone had called the number on their tag then drive up and down Kinnerly Rd. a few times and head to Lowes to get “lost dog” sign supplies. I was pulling into the driveway and saw Harley standing on the front porch waiting for someone to let him in the house. When I pulled up he walked over to the car and wanted to get in when I opened the door. I was SO excited to see him…probably partially because I was glad to see him and partially because I was so impressed that he actually made it home on his own. We haven’t been able to pick up Montana yet because it was late in the day so he has to spend the night in jail before his dad goes to bail him out tomorrow. Harley has come to the new house (Doug and I were worried that he might try to get out to find Montana at the old house) has gotten a bath and is taking a good nap in the garage on our luggage (he’s such a diva dog). It’s such a relief to have our “puppies” back (or at least know where they are). Thanks to all of our friends and family who said prayers for our puppies throughout the day! I’ll put a picture of them up soon so everyone can see our sweet boys (who will probably be spoiled like crazy for a while) ![]()
I just went to check on Macy who was in her swing. Usually she doesn’t last longer than 20 minutes in the swing so I was a little surprised not to hear her yet. She’s too cute! She was fighting so hard to keep her eyes open! She looked like a grandpa sitting in his chair after Thanksgiving dinner. :) When I went back to look again she had given it up and was taking her first nap in her swing…that is until Montana started barking at something and woke her up. It might have been a short nap, but it was still a first for her. ![]()
Yesterday was a big day for the Adam family. Macy had her two month check up and we closed on our new house! Macy is now 10lbs. 11oz. and 22 inches long. The doctor said that she looks great and is the perfect weight for her height (so we must be doing something right). What can I say…she’s a great baby!
We are super excited about our new house! We’re going to start painting next week and then move in next weekend. I put some pictures in the photo gallery, but they’re kind of bland…only so much you can do with beige rooms. I’ll add more as we paint and make it look more like a house than an apartment. ![]()
Macy was two months old yesterday (you know I can’t be on time for anything!). I can’t believe how much she’s grown and changed over the past two months. She’s starting to talk (as much as a two month old can). She and Doug will go back and forth with a cute little cooing sound that she makes…it’s like their own conversation. Her favorite “person” to talk to is Ceiling Fan. I’ll be in the kitchen cleaning up and she’ll sit in her papazan chair and coo, giggle, and squeal at Ceiling Fan. She’s constant entertainment for us! :) Her two month appointment with her pediatrician is tomorrow, so I’ll try to blog again when we get home and post how big she is now (I can’t even imagine…she’s growing like a weed!!)
Yes, this is our latest “visitor” to the Adam household. We’ve had a couple of mice since we’ve been married (yesterday was our two year anniversary!!! :) Our little mice visitors are the tiniest mice I’ve ever seen. I would probably be a little more freaked out if the were bigger, but these guys are teeny and fast as lightening (not to mention the fact that we’re moving in two weeks and hopefully leaving our mouse adventures behind). It’s always interesting to try and catch the mice. We’re both too soft hearted to kill the little fellahs, so we’ve gotten all of our mice humanely and then taken them back to the field down the street from which they came (yes, we’re probably just recatching the same mouse over and over). Our latest friend was a tricky one. We put out the humane traps and tried to lure him with all of the things mice are supposed to like…peanut butter, bread, dog food…nothing worked. Two nights ago I was cleaning up in the kitchen and I kept hearing a mousy rustling kind of sound. I looked around to see where it was coming from and sure enough I see a little furry mouse body in our toaster (note to self…invest in new toaster). I went and told Doug about the mouse sighting. Now, Doug is a well trained and highly skilled mouse hunter and loves the thrill of the chase so he immediately grabbed a big envelope and went in to trap the mouse. Doug put the envelope over the top of the toaster and put the toaster in a big box…nothing. We didn’t see the mouse anywhere in the toaster. Doug was shaking it, turning it upside down…no mouse so we go to bed. Fast forward to 4:30am the next morning. Macy wakes me up with her usual morning grunts and I hear strange sounds coming from the living room. I go to investigate and there is the mouse in the box next to the toaster! I have NO idea where he was hiding in the toaster to escape Doug’s search, but I’m very thankful that Doug left the toaster in the box! The little guy was climbing to the top of the toaster and then trying to JUMP out of this huge box (aren’t mice supposed to chew their way out of things?) So Doug somehow got the toaster out of the box without the mouse running back in…I told you he had skills…and took the mouse back to his field. Hopefully it will take him longer than 2 weeks to make his way back this time. :) And if anyone has thoughts on how to sterilize a toaster, please let me know. ![]()
